Beaches, Parks, and Festival Country

The Eastport Peninsula is where central Newfoundland goes to the beach. Seven communities — Eastport, Happy Adventure, Salvage, Sandy Cove, Burnside, Sandringham, and St. Chad's — stretch along Bonavista Bay, each with its own coastal character.

Eastport is known as Newfoundland's Festival Capital, and Sandy Cove has won the provincial Tidy Towns award multiple times. Salvage — with just 124 residents perched on a rugged headland — is the mother settlement of the region, dating back centuries. And the whole peninsula borders Terra Nova National Park.

🏖️

Eastport Beach

The busiest beach on the peninsula — with washrooms, showers, and a community cookhouse. The place to be in July and August. Caplin roll in late June, and icebergs can drift past the bay in season.

🏝️

Sandy Cove Beach

A 2km stretch of sand with both oceanside and freshwater swimming at Crooked Tree Park. Multiple Tidy Towns award winner. One of the best beaches in Newfoundland, full stop.

🏕️

Terra Nova National Park

The peninsula borders one of Canada's most beautiful national parks — offering hiking, kayaking, camping, and wildlife viewing. Boreal forest meets the sea along a coastline that never gets crowded.

🐟

Caplin & Marine Life

Late June through July, millions of caplin roll onto the beaches — a natural spectacle that draws locals and visitors alike. Whales follow the caplin inshore, and icebergs drift through Bonavista Bay.

Beachfront Living on Bonavista Bay

The Eastport Peninsula is one of the most compelling spots in Newfoundland for seasonal or year-round waterfront property. Prices remain accessible, the beaches are world-class, and the proximity to Terra Nova and Gander makes it practical for families and investors alike.

🏡

Beachfront & Coastal Properties

Homes and lots with direct beach access across seven communities. Whether you want to wake up looking at Sandy Cove or tuck into a cove in Salvage, the options are varied and the prices haven't caught up to the scenery yet.

🛖

Cottage & Seasonal Homes

Strong demand for summer cottages and seasonal rentals. The festival calendar, beach season, and national park proximity create consistent summer traffic — and a growing shoulder season.

Family-Friendly Communities

Holy Cross School serves the peninsula (K-12, ~110 students), and the Family Resource Centre supports young families. Safe, quiet communities where kids grow up on the water.
